As the temperature and weather has changed, our immune system can leave our body vulnerable to different type of illness and diseases. While a strong immune system will cope with attack of viruses, one that has been weakened by poor nutrition and too much stress will struggle.
We should take care about our health and bodies. Getting enough rest, eating healthy foods, exercising, mediation and avoiding stress should help you maintain optimal health.
- Eat Fruits and Vegetables
Poor nutrition is a common problem when the weather starts to be colder as we tend to crave for something unhealthy.
Try to stick to a diet full of leafy greens, seasonal healthy vegetable such as butternut squash, seasonal fruits full of vitamins such as apples, oranges and pineapples.
2. Vitamin C from Foods and Supplements
Vitamin C is associated with cold and flu prevention. Your body needs vitamin C especially during winters, and it is easy to get it in form of powder (dissolving in water), tablets or food rich in Vitamin C. Oranges, satsumas, butternut squash, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, other leafy greens.
3. Vitamin E
It is key for strong immunity(strengthens the body cells that fight infection) and healthy skin (slow down signs of ageing). You can get supplements of Vitamin E but I do rather recommend consume food rich in this vitamin such as seeds & nuts, fish such as salmon or trout, avocado or red peppers.
Keep your bottle of water on your desk and during your break get some herbal teas & green tea. Not only keeps you warm during cold weather, but it also contains powerful antioxidants that prevent against infection.
5. Meditation & Yoga
Reduce your stress level and prevent depressions with something that is not just physical exercising in gym. Meditation and yoga releasing hormones fighting with free radicals in your body. It boosts the immune system but also make you feel much happier and healthier.
Support your body when it is dealing with seasonal change. When you do shopping for your week, do not forget add those rich in Vitamin C and E, get couple of boxes of herbal teas and when you have spare minute, sign up for Yoga classes in your area. And the main thing is – do not forget to rest.
